Generally worn by royalty, religious figures, deities and victors, crowns are symbols of power and/or achievement. Crowning is a personal, social and/or culturally significant act for POCs.  The inclusion of crowns, diadems and headpieces in performance, portraiture and ceremony are integral in the performer’s quest to establish the perception of dominance and power.
